Angel's Hyperhidrosis Profile

Angel has been dealing with hyperhidrosis ever since she can remember, dating back to when she was just a child. She suffers from palmoplantar hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the hands and feet), Several years ago, Angel posted a video on her YouTube channel Speak of the Angel, talking about her greatest insecurities, one of them being her excessive sweating. We reached out to Angel to get her to try Dermadry, because we wanted to help her get her hyperhidrosis under control so that she could feel more confident.

In her first video, Angel opens up about her experience with hyperhidrosis. She notes that while she does suffer from palmar hyperhidrosis, what bothers her the most is her excessive foot sweating. Dealing with the condition has made her self-conscious about things like foot odour, and people’s reactions, and has led her . She details the beginnings of her journey in her video series. Watch her videos, including a 3-month and 2-year update to learn more about Angel’s journey to dryness, her treatment schedule, and her thoughts on Demadry!

Angel’s Dermadry Unboxing, Demo, & First Impressions

This is in collaboration with Dermadry. Okay, so how did this collaboration come about? If you guys haven't seen my insecurities video, go ahead, I'm going to link it up above for you guys. The first time that I've ever addressed it online was in that video—I'm somebody who suffers from excessively sweaty hands and feet. My hands, not that big of a deal. I have clammy hands, but a lot of people have clammy hands, but in my feet it really sucks, because if I'm walking around the entire day and I’m unable to change my socks, for example, or I’m wearing boots, this sweat tends to make my feet smell a little bit. And this is something that I've been dealing with ever since I was pretty much a child. It's something that I used to get made fun of by my family, I've been made fun of by my friends, and it's just gotten to that point where it's, like, everybody that's close to me knows that I have this issue, so it doesn't bother me so much anymore. Because as long as the people that I love and that love me don't care, I don't either.

I did some research, and there is a name for this condition - it is called hyperhidrosis. I know a lot of other people who have hyperhidrosis. One of my friends has it, and then after I posted that in my insecurities video, more than one of you guys reached out to me, and pretty much told me that you do suffer from the same issue and that it is also an insecurity of yours. And I hate to hear that, because as good as it feels to know that there are other people who understand what I'm feeling, I hate that you're feeling it too because it sucks. I just don't really wish that upon anybody.

During my research, I found that it actually is a known condition that really severely impacts the quality of life for the people who have this condition, because once it gets to a certain point when you're sweating a lot, it does make your hands and feet smell not that great. It can affect you socially, it can affect you mentally, and I really never thought of looking into a way to cure it. I just didn't think there was anything that I could do about it, other than maybe prevent it. So, I would always change my socks often throughout the day. If I know I'm having a long walking day, or from wearing cheaper shoes, I find that that affects it. I've tried the whole foot deodorant thing, it doesn't really work. I've tried the powder that you put in your shoes, to prevent sweatiness and that didn't really work - it just made my shoes gross.

But I was recently reached out to by this company called Dermadry. Dermadry is this company that offers a solution, a home solution for those of you who suffer from hyperhidrosis. It’s needle-free, it’s drug-free, and it's the first of its kind to be licensed by Health Canada. And it is the first of its price point as well, so it is a lot more affordable than other treatments and other machines that are out there that are available for home use.

So, essentially, how does it work? Well, I am no scientist and not an engineer, so I have the [their website] open in front of me. Dermadry, the machine, is a tap water iontophoresis device. This technology works by directing a small current through the skin, neutralizing the connections between the nerves and your sweat glands. The treatment has been known to drastically decrease excessive sweating, and it is a treatment that you can go to a specialist to get, but this is really great because it offers you the opportunity to do this at home, which I think is amazing.

It comes in a box like this, they have three different machines: they have the Dermadry Total, Dermadry Hands and Feet, and Dermadry Underarms. Yeah, it's one of the safest and easiest ways to get the treatments for hyperhidrosis, so obviously when they reached out to me, I was ecstatic! I thought it was the most perfect thing for me to try and test out for you guys and let you know how it is because this is actually an issue that I feel.

So, they sent me this machine — I'm just going to talk you guys through my experience with it. I've tried it a few times, so I haven't seen drastic results yet. My feet have gotten a lot better throughout the years, just as I'm getting older I think, they've been a lot less sweaty. But I'm just excited to see how much this is going to help me. I'm going to keep you guys updated on the results as well.

When you open it up, it comes in a nice case like this, and there used to be a kind of foam padding that went in here, but I took the foam padding out and I just kept the case with all of its belongings. There's actually a portion of this set that's missing right now and it's the towels, but I'll explain to you guys exactly what those are for later on.

In your Dermadry kit, you've got a couple of things: you get four of these pads, and these are for your underarms. You get two underarm size electrodes. So, to use these, essentially, you just take the electrode and you slip it into the pads here, you connect it to the machine, which I'll show you guys when you slip it into the pad and you put these under your arms. It comes with the actual machinery, which is what's going to be conducting or like sending out the current to larger electrodes. And these are going to be what's for your hands and your feet. And then it comes with two small white towels, which are about the size of this electrode, pretty much a little bit bigger, whichever for your hands and your feet as well.

How does it work? This is going to sound a little bit scary and it was a little bit scary for me when I was first trying it out because I wasn't exactly sure how it was going to feel like. But when you're doing it for your hands or your feet, you take the box that it comes with, and it actually slips out to be two containers. So, let these little middle connecting things slip out really easily, and you take this, then take an electrode, you put it inside of the box, you connect the machine. And it's white connector to the end of the electrode. You place it on the ground and you fill this up with water, so, not all the way. It says maximum 500ml.

I filled it up so the water level was just slightly over my toes when my feet are placed flat in here. You put the electrode, you take the towel, you put it on top of the electrode, and that's where your foot’s going to rest. And then you fill it up with a little bit of water, and you do the same with the other one. And you place both pins down on the ground in front of you. And you put your feet in it. Essentially, what it does is, this machine will send electric currents through the wire onto this metal conductor, this metal plate, and then once your foot is in the water, those currents will kind of drive into your feet, or I guess make contact with your foot. I'm just going to read you guys some excerpts from their website as well.

Tap water iontophoresis treatments need to be repeated to maintain dryness. The use of tap water ensures uniform treatment over the targeted areas. Providing an adequate level of current on the targeted area will stop sweat in most cases. The success of treatment depends on the current strength. Higher current strengths work better and should be used for intense sweating. The treatment strength should be changed based on skin sensitivity. Hands and feet can tolerate a higher current strength than underarms.

The scientific evidence behind this is the effectiveness of tap water iontophoresis to treat hyperhidrosis has been demonstrated by numerous studies. These studies were performed on patients with primary focal hyperhidrosis (mild, moderate and severe). The studies were performed on patients in all age ranges from 8 years old to 71 years old. The treatment parameters were mostly similar regarding the current strength, the treatment duration and the treatment frequency. The clinical studies evaluated the efficiency of the treatment both in clinical conditions (in hospital, performed by healthcare professionals) and at home (patients were provided with devices and performed treatments on their own).

Here are the results to those studies:

Tap water iontophoresis treatments improve the patient’s quality of life significantly during treatment.

92.9% of patients saw results after two weeks of iontophoresis treatments.

88.9% of patients had positive results, and a majority of the patients found the maintenance program compatible with their lifestyle.

Quality of life improved in 78.6% of patients after 2 weeks.

Tap water iontophoresis is a simple, safe and effective therapeutic option for palmoplantar hyperhidrosis.

So, palmoplantar hyperhidrosis is essentially excessive sweating in your hands and your feet and then axillary is in your underarms.

I’ll talk a little bit about my experience with it, I’m not going to lie, when I first started treatments, I was really scared because the thought of electric currents running through water and touching my feet frightened me, because I don't know, as much as I know that it is like such a safe product, and that it can only output 25mA of current, it's just a scary thought. You just don't know what it’s going to feel like the first time. So, I was pretty hesitant when I was getting started. It took me a long time even just to boost it up to 1mA, but I did it.

And, honestly, it wasn't awful at all! At 1mA, you can barely feel it. And the thing is, it is going to feel different, depending on your skin sensitivity. So, I got my friend Joel to try it out as well, and I was only able to get up to about 4mA of power before I could really feel the current kind of running along my skin, like along the skin of my feet, and kind of almost up my legs. Like, it's not painful in any way, but you do feel it, it's like a light tickle. It's a very, very slight feeling, just imagine somebody taking the tips of their nails or the tips of their fingers, and just like in the lightest way possible running it along the bottom of your feet.

At 4mA, I did find that when I wiggled my toes I felt like somebody was poking the front of my toe, not with anything sharp but it was like a bit of a poke. So, like, imagine the input section of your Apple headphones. You know, just any kind of dull thing that has a bit of a point, but just imagine taking that and lightly poking the tip of your finger with it.

I think because you know that it is an electric current, it feels scarier than what it actually feels like, if that makes any sense. It's like your brain almost tricks you to feel shocked, like you're like, “Ooh, ooh!” Like, I will react to it but it doesn't hurt in any way, if that makes any sense. So I found that going from 1mA to 2mA, I could feel the difference because at 1, really I couldn't feel anything at all, and then 2, I kind of started feeling just something running throughout my feet. 2 to 3, I couldn't feel, but 3 to 4, I could really feel. So, at 4, I was like, “This is good. I'm not going to up it anymore.

For Joel for example, he was able to get it up to, I think, it was like 13 or 14 or something ridiculous like that. So, pretty much 1 through about 7 or 8, he wasn't feeling it at all, he was like there's no sensation. And then about 7 or 8, he started feeling like a light current run along his feet, and then from I guess about 8 to about 14, he was like, “okay” actually, he can feel the current more. I think it totally depends on you. I think even if you have really sensitive skin, it's not going to hurt at 1 or 2mA, you do feel the physical sensation of kind of a light current running along your skin, but I would not relate that physical sensation to pain at all. Like if anything, it's more of a tickle or more of — I think a tickle is probably the best way to describe it essentially.

Yeah, I'm still in disbelief that this company reached out to me, and it's not something that I even like needed to go out and research and find myself. It really literally feels like the universe has sent me a sign that it is treatable, and it just made me really excited to share this with you guys because really that is one of my biggest insecurities, and it's something that I think I will always be a little bit insecure about, so yeah. I don't know, the feeling of finding a solution really, really just gives me joy. Let me know if you guys have ever heard of iontophoresis, the treatment, and what you think about it, and whether you have this issue.

I'd love to get a discussion started around this topic for those of you who also suffer from hyperhidrosis, and if you do have sweaty hands and feet and you don't know if it is hyperhidrosis, go see a doctor, like they're going to be able to tell you best. I am by no means a doctor or anybody who is qualified to give you that kind of diagnosis, but the best that I can do obviously is just to give you kind of like my experience with the condition, and yeah, kind of take you through my journey with my new machine.

Thank you guys so much for watching. I hope you guys enjoyed this video, I hope it was informative, I hope this was helpful, and I hope that for those of you who do suffer from the condition and haven't heard of this treatment before, I hope it gives you a little bit of hope, because that's how I felt when I read that first email that I received from them. I was like, “Wait, hold up, hold up - is this real?! Like, there's an actual treatment?!” Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this video.I hope you guys are having an amazing day wherever you are in the world, and I will see you guys in my next video. Bye!

Angel’s 3-Month Dermadry Update

Dermadry is a home use medical machine that helps you cure hyperhidrosis. And a quick explanation of what that is, is it is excessive sweating in your armpits or hands or your feet, and tons of people suffer from this issue. I've suffered from hyperhidrosis for pretty much my entire life, ever since I was a kid I've had really sweaty hands and feet, but feet, especially. I'm not going to lie, it has been an embarrassing thing for me for so long. I mentioned it in my insecurities video, which I will have up here for you guys as well.

I talk about how my feet sweat a lot, so sometimes they tend to smell pretty bad. It’s something that I've been dealing with for a really long time, and I never knew that there was a cure for such a thing. I’ve tried medicinal foot baths, I've tried foot deodorants, I've tried even the powder form of foot deodorant. I've tried like the stuff you put in your shoes after you wear them to kill bacteria, but also to get rid of the scent. Most of these solutions were pretty temporary and they don't really fix my problems. So if you guys watched my other video you'll know that Dermadry actually reached out to me and I don't know how they found me or how I got so lucky to be put in contact with such a great company.

I just thought it was the most perfect collaboration, like a pair made in heaven, me and this machine. I just wanted to come back on and tell you guys a little bit about the results. I also have a little bit of a chat with somebody who works at Dermadry, Mathieu. So, I was able to get some of my own questions answered. And then I'm actually gonna go ahead and do a demo for you guys today. So some quick dos and donts for using your machine. So they don't actually mention this on the website, but you're supposed to use your machine as often as possible and on the highest frequency that you yourself can handle. So the machine does send electrical currents into the water that you place your hands or your feet in. It sounds a little scary, but I promise if you go slow, it doesn't really hurt. It feels more like a light tingling or kind of like a tickle. Mathieu from Dermadry actually recommends that you use it three to five times a week.

If your feet or your skin gets sensitive to the treatment, start off with three times a week. So do like Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and then as your skin builds a tolerance to the current, you can up the strength and then also up the frequency and that's going to give you the best results.

So once you've built up enough tolerance to do it every single day, just do it daily until you see results. So do it daily until your hands, your feet or your armpits or wherever you are conducting the treatment stops. sweating excessively. It can even just stop sweating, period.

Typically once you hit that point, it'll take about up to six weeks for it to come back. Once you hit that point where you stop sweating, you'll just have to maintain it. So typically I'll take about six weeks for it to start coming back, so what you could be doing is doing it once every two weeks or once every week or even once a month, depending on how much the sweating is coming back for you and how quickly.

As for the don'ts, I have a list written here, but if you're not supposed to use it, if you use a cardiac pacemaker, have heart problems, seizures, have metallic implants, if you have infections or if you are pregnant. So just some precautions, of course. And then the minimum age that is recommended for people to use this machine is 13 years old. If you're under 13, sorry. You're out of luck for now, but once you hit 13 years old, this machine is going to be great for you.

So another thing that Mathieu wanted me to mention in this video that they are very, very proud of is that they are a fully Canadian company. It’s definitely something that I'm proud of as well, because they are actually the only company in Canada that carries this sort of machine.

Not only that they have amazing customer service and a [100] day satisfaction guarantee. So if you do end up buying the machine and end up not liking it or just finding that it wasn't suitable for your lifestyle, typically you have [1-00] days to get your full refund. However, I did ask them, you know, how, how often do you guys get refunds or kind of like negative comments? And they say literally, almost never does anyone return their machines because it has been super effective for everyone that has been using it.

It has been working great. I started to do it back in December and I definitely wasn't doing it enough, like my frequency wasn't high enough for my use of this machine. That was one thing that Mathieu pointed out when we had our call, because as much as that call was for me to ask questions, it was also just kind of a support call. So, just making sure that I'm using the machine correctly. I was using it about once a week back in December, and then I left for actually three weeks to Asia. So, a lot of the results that I was seeing started to fade. And then once I got back, I was pretty busy all of January. So I just got back into using it in February. I have been using it once a week, although he does say you should one, up your frequency, so instead of using it once a week, I should at least go up to three times a week and work my way up to using it five or five times a week or even daily.

And then he says to up the level as well, because I found that level four of the electrical current was a good level for me, but my skin quickly got used to that. I just actually never upped that voltage level. So that's something that I'm going to try to do today, but even with my sparser usage, I have been seeing results. My skin, initially when I first started using it, got relatively dry, just because it was one of the side effects that was pointed out in their manual, but that does go away after a couple of uses. They do also mention, you will probably see more sweating after the first couple of uses, and again that goes away. So, my feet, I think have gotten a lot better given it has been winter, but winter also means I've been wearing thick boots and I don't think my feet are sweating as much as they would have before I started to use the machine. So that is amazing, amazing news already.

So honestly, I can not wait until I start busting this bad boy out every single day, and seeing the results then. So anyway, I'm going to go ahead and give you guys a demo of how I use the machine. I didn't do that last time, and I think it's going to be cool for us to do it together this time.

So, the machine and everything, the whole kit comes in this little suitcase-like container, you get your two giant conductors or electrodes. And then you have little smaller ones as well for your armpits, but we're not going to use those. Oh, another thing is, so this machine is actually the one that can be used for your armpits, your hands and your feet.

If you do just want the hands and feet machine or the armpit machine, if you just have a specific spot that you need help with, they do come in other packages as well, that are going to be a little bit more affordable. I was sent the one where you have the option of doing it in your armpits or your hands or for your feet.

So, we're going to go ahead and take everything. I looked out the box and then the box does separate as well, just like that. I'm going to go ahead and place it on the floor and I'm going to lower my camera so you guys can see it. So I'm going to go ahead and place the two bins on the floor, and then put the two electrodes into the bin like that. So those two conductors plug into this machine here, and this is going to be pretty much your control panel, and this is going to control your voltage amount, where on your body you are doing the treatment, and then of course your on and off. Let me go ahead and connect these.

Next, you have to put in the two towels. So these actually fit into the tubs perfectly as well, like that. You need just enough water so that it covers your treatment area. So for me, that's going to be my feet. I'm going to go ahead and set the machine so that it is at the feet option, and then I'm going to go up to five milliamps and try that out, and then we can up it during the treatment if needed, but you can see there, this can be a 20 minute treatment. So I'm going to go ahead and start the treatment. I'm going to place my feet into the water. I feel like I could have used a little bit more water. I’m just going to go ahead and start the treatment.

We are all finished. I’ve just unplugged it from the electrical. And then the first thing or the second thing I do is unplug the two white chorus from the electrodes just to be safe. And then pretty much all you do is empty out with bins. I just rinse it with water and I rinse the electrodes as well. Then I just ring out the towels and let it all dry. I typically will wash the towels every two to three uses,I don't wash it every use, especially because if I'm going to be using it every single day, it's going to be quite awful washing it every single day. The towels, you can actually just throw into the washer.

So for best results, use a mild or regular dish soap to clean the case. Air dry the case and controller, wash electrodes under running water. Use a soft cloth and mild dish detergent. Air-dry the electrodes for towels, hand, or machine wash with common detergents for pockets, clean with dish soap and run with water.

So there is actually a recommended duration of use for each aspect of the product as well. The towels, they recommend that you keep one to two years, the hands and feet electrodes one to two years, underarm pockets, 30 treatments, and then underarm electrodes are one to two years. So the products do have consumable lengths of time. I would reach out to the company once you've passed the consumable amount of times, just to see what your options are, whether you can repurchase each of those items individually, or if you could just switch out the entire machine. But yeah, that was kind of my follow-up video. I have been seeing really great results so far.

I just wanted to dive a little bit deeper into my experience with it. I actually turned my machine up to 7 milliamps today and I definitely felt a little bit more of a tickle than 5 milliamps, but it wasn't anything insane. The only kind of portion of your treatment that you can kind of feel is when it hits the 10 minute mark, it does this thing where it drops all the way down in voltage, and then it goes all the way back up to what you set it as. Because of the change in voltage, you can feel a little bit, but it's by no means painful. Of course never, ever set this high enough, that it's painful for you. Everybody's tolerance is different. And like I said, the more you use it, the more your skin will build a tolerance to it. So start with what you're comfortable with and then work your way up for better results.

Angel’s 2-Year Dermadry Update

Since my last two Dermadry videos, I've gotten so many more questions and comments asking me how my experience with Dermadry has been thus far. Have I continued to use it and do I really think that it is a viable product for those who suffer from excessive sweating?

So I thought I would just go ahead and hop on and share another video with you guys kind of going over stuff that I've might have missed, and my experience with it. I'll touch on how often I still use it, how it's been working for me, and then also I think this time I'm going to demonstrate the armpit pads for you, because I realized that I never demonstrated that aspect of it, and some people were asking about that. So, I will show you how that all works today. But more importantly than that, I kind of wanted to do this video again, because like most of my other videos where I talk about more sensitive topics, I really want to break the taboo around the topic of excessive sweating.

It actually affects one out of 20 people. And those who do suffer from excessive sweating, sweat four to five times more than the average person. Essentially their sweat glands, they never shut off, and they're constantly “on”, meaning that they sweat in circumstances that the average person wouldn't be sweating in.

So for example, when you're nervous, your palms get really clammy. I don't know if your palms get really clammy, but my palms get really clammy. Those who do suffer from excessive sweating find that their palms get so sweaty, like so sweaty that it may hinder their social experiences, making them not want to shake people's hands, making them not want to touch somebody.

It’s kind of a mentally tiring ailment that people deal with. Yes, I know this condition is non-threatening, but it really does take a toll on your mental health when excessive sweating is something that you have to deal with constantly. It can lead to psychological, emotional, and social impacts. Like I said, it can just take a toll on the person who is suffering from the condition, especially because often they feel like they have to plan their plans around their sweating. For example, my biggest weak point, I guess I don't even want to call it a weak point, it's just where I suffer from excessive sweating the most, is my feet. And I remember when I was in high school, when I used to be very self-conscious about this issue, that I would bring like two or three pairs of socks around with me so that I can change it throughout the day. And then if I get invited to somebody's house, I often feel really, really anxious and really nervous knowing that I'm going to have to remove my shoes because one of the side-effects of having really sweaty feet and wearing runners all day is that your feet probably kind of smell pretty foul. And that was something I definitely suffered with. So, I always had so much anxiety going over to people's houses and knowing that I had to take off my shoes because I was just so scared that somebody was going to make fun of me for my sweaty feet, make fun of me for how my feet smell.

It's definitely not something I care about so much anymore, especially since I started trying different products to try to reduce the effects of my excessive sweating. So I find that it really has improved my quality of life, being able to kind of deter the side effects or get rid of the side effects. But yeah, just kind of knowing firsthand how that felt and kind of constantly, almost bashing on myself for having this condition. It's good to know that there are companies out there who are researching this condition and seeing how it can be resolved.

More than just emotionally. I did have physical side effects that sucked as well. Cause if you're wearing socks all day and your feet are stuck in your shoes and it's hot and you're sweating, often I would get little rashes, like bumpy, scaly rashes along the top of my feet, or kind of in between my toes. At its worst, like a hot summer's day, and out all day in runners, I sometimes get it on the underside of my foot and that would always be the worst because those rashes get really sensitive and sting. So walking around with that on the bottom of your foot, highly uncomfortable, don't recommend it. Like it was not pleasant and I've definitely seen those physical effects reduced by like a ton. Honestly, I barely get that anymore.

Summer's almost over here, it's August. And although I do try to take precautions, like wear open toed shoes in the summer because I know that my feet get really hot. There are days that I just can't avoid it. Like when I'm playing tennis, when I'm going to the gym, et cetera, and I need to be in runners. But even on those days, on a hot summer's day, I'm running around outside sweating, playing tennis, I find that I don't really get the rashes anymore. My feet don't really stink at home anymore. So yeah, I find that it really has improved my quality.

So going into how often I still use the product. So, I won't lie. It's not something that I was able to keep up for a long period of time, because you do have to set up the device every time, you have to make sure you wash your cloth that comes with your pads. There is just a bit of a process of setting it up and getting into the habit of using it.

I did use it pretty consistently when I first got it, but since then, I think it's been like over a year now or something, I haven't really been using it that often anymore. I maybe pull it out on the days that I have my self-care spa nights, I'll put on a mask, put on my favorite show, and just do this. But it's not something that I like routinely do week after week anymore. However, I do find that once you keep it consistently going for the first little while, like maybe the first two months, three months, the effects do kind of lessen over time. And then I find that it's been okay with me, just maintaining it every once in a while and trying it again once in a while. Obviously the more you use it, the better results you're going to get. But I think that personally, my condition probably isn't as bad as some other people have it.

Initial impression? I found that I saw results within, I would say, like the first month or two, and then from there, I really didn't need to consistently use it like week after week for it to be effective for me. So some things you notice immediately when you use the product is you'll notice that wherever your area of concern is like, if it's your hands, your feet, your armpits, that your skin will get really dry. And that is just a process of, the actual treatment. So something I do recommend is applying lotion to your affected area after you do your treatment, if dry skin is something that is uncomfortable to you, which it is for me. I have dry skin on my feet naturally just from my excessive sweating condition, but it definitely worsened the dry skin. So I just like to moisturize my feet after, and for the couple of days post-treatment just to keep my skin nice and moisturized, and so it's not feeling tight or uncomfortable or anything like that.

Do you recommend Dermadry?

I've explored a lot of different options when it comes to dealing with this issue. I personally would choose iontophoresis, the treatment, over any other treatment and or any other solution just because I find that it is actually the most effortless treatment. So some of the other solutions for excessive sweating, if you guys haven't done your own research, you can do Botox. So Botox will actually help turn off those sweat glands for those people who have this condition and whose sweat glands can't turn off on their own. So, Botox will actually help with that. However, if you've gotten any Botox done in the past, or if you've just researched it, Botox can get very, very expensive. And it's a treatment that you have to constantly keep up. So that's like several hundred dollars a year, maybe even like thousands of dollars a year, depending on where you go and how often you have to go.

So, that just wasn't a viable option for me. Some other solutions are deodorant. I've tried so many different kinds of deodorant. You guys don't even know I've tried the spray kind, the powder kind. I found that both the spray and the powder always just left your shoes really gross and icky. And for somebody who does like to buy the occasional nice pair of shoes and nice pair of sneakers, I don't really like to be gunking up my shoes with powder and deodorant. If you think about it, powder on your feet sounds like it'd be the right thing to dry out your sweat, but for somebody who excessively sweats that powder just gets wet and turns into a goopy mess. So I really didn't like that solution.

I know there was another company that reached out to me that have products that are kind of like dry products as well. So they have wipes, they have lotions, for you to apply to your affected area, which actually was pretty effective. Um, but it's just too cumbersome of a thing for me to do daily. I know the wipes you can take with you and do throughout the day, the lotions you can apply after your shower and stuff like that. But it was something that you had to maintain every single day, before you went out, during, if your feet get really sweaty. It's just something that had such a process to it that it was definitely something that I knew I wasn't going to keep up.

So, although I say the Dermadry treatment isn't something that I continue to do week after week now. It's not something that you have to do daily, and it's something that once you keep it consistent for, like I said, one or two months, then it's something that you can just maintain after that. I really like that because it just seems like the most effortless process for me as somebody who is kind of lazy when it comes to these things. So yeah, I just kind of liked that I can add it to my self-care routine once every couple of weeks or two weeks, three weeks, and I'm good to go for the next little while.I just found that it was a better machine, both money-wise, time-wise, and effort wise. It's just the most economical solution.

How long did it take to see results?

So I started seeing results, well like I said, you'll see that the skin starts to dry out almost immediately, like after the first or second time that you use it.

But I really started to see results kind of a couple months in, so maybe like two months in. I started noticing that my feet were getting a lot less sweaty, those physical side effects that I was saying, like the rashes and stuff weren't showing up as much anymore. Given I do take my own precautions when it comes to my sweating, so for example, in the summertime, I will try to wear open toed shoes as much as I can. And then in the winter time I just try to wear better shoes. So that's a huge tip that I have for those who do suffer from excessive sweating in their feet is to just buy nice shoes, like nice leather lining usually I find helps. Not like cheap sneakers, and then also just to not wear the same pairs of shoes, like two days in a row. So space out your shoes so that you're wearing it once every two or three days. I find that that helps a lot with definitely the scent, but as you know, if you're sweating within your shoes all day, it does leave that dampness to it.

So if you're putting your feet into your shoes again, before it dries out and airs out completely, then it's probably going to smell pretty bad/it's not going to be very good for your skin, which is also probably what was causing the rashes. So I would definitely say that this treatment isn't your one stop shop and that you have to kind of take these precautions as well. If you're somebody who, like me in high school, really suffered from anxiety due to your condition, I don't think that taking those precautions like wearing different shoes every day or wearing nicer or investing in a nicer pair of shoes—I don't think those precautions are ridiculous.

I mean, I also do enjoy just styling different shoes with different outfits, so it never really even was a thing or a habit that I had to build, but it's just these little things that really help. Obviously the treatment is great and it will reduce your sweating. But like I said, it definitely isn't that like “one big solution”, where you do it a couple of times and you're just good for life—it doesn't work like that. So the long and the short of it is: yeah, I think that this treatment is totally effective, but just don't expect it to be like your magical solution that will solve it for life, because it is something that you will have to maintain as well as just kind of like be mindful of in other areas as well.

I hope I answered most of your guys’ questions. I'm going to show you guys how the armpit pads work this time because they do work a little bit differently than the feet and the hands where you put your hands in the water. So here is the device box. Again, if you guys haven't seen my previous two videos and you have no idea what I'm talking about, this is the Dermadry iontophoresis machine, which is a treatment that helps with excessive sweating.

Essentially what comes in the box is your actual Dermadry machine, which is the device that actually outputs the electrical current. You get your power cord, of course. And then you got several different options.

I opted for the machine that does your hands, your feet, and your armpits. But I believe you can choose machines that are just for your hands and feet or for your armpits. They give you a booklet of instructions on how to use it, which was very important. Don't lose this because there's a lot of stuff that you have to read throughout. So there are like cautions. So for example, placing the device on a firm and stable. surface, never use more than 500 milliliters of top water into the tray, disconnect the AC adapter during the bad weather conditions, etc. There's just a lot of cautions that they give you, which I think you should read through this booklet carefully before you start, because obviously you are using a machine that produces electrical current. So you just want to be a little bit careful. It also tells you the different levels of, of treatment, which will treat different levels of severity when it comes to your hyperhidrosis.

So, level one is for mild hyperhidrosis, which is three to five times per week for about one to two weeks. Level two is moderate hyperhidrosis, which is three to five times per week for about two to three weeks. And then severe hyperhidrosis would be three to five times per week for about four to six weeks. So I did mine a little bit differently because like I said, it wasn't very easy for me to build a habit of doing this three to five times a week.

So I probably did it, I would say between one to three times a week, depending on how busy I was for about a month or two. I'm going to be honest, it was probably closer to one to two times a week, if not one time a week, but kind of prolonging the treatment process did help to get me the results that I wanted.

So once you go through phase one, which is the initial treatment, you go into phase two, which is the maintenance phase. The maintenance phase, for level one, mild, is about one treatment every two to three weeks. Level two, moderate, is about one treatment per week. And then level three is about three treatments per week.

So if after that four to six weeks, you have severe hyperhidrosis and you want to maintain the results. You want to keep it up to three treatments per week. So obviously like I said, I would say that I'm probably at a mild hyperhidrosis level. So I do it once, yeah, one one treatment every two to three weeks, and that totally works for me. So how it works is you get these little metal pads. These are called electrodes, and these are what will connect your machine to the actual like treatment area. So your machine comes with these wires and if you're using the ones for the hands and feet, you'll have seen this before, but you connect them to these giant electrodes. But for your underarms, obviously it's not ideal for you to be putting these giant electrodes there, so they provide these small electrodes for you to connect to your machine just like that. So they also give you four of these blue pockets and these will replace the towel in the hands and feet treatment for your armpit treatment. So you want to soak these pads in tap water at about room temperature, so lukewarm, not too cold and not too hot.

So soak these until they're completely wet to make sure that you are evenly applying the current to your entire affected area, and then just insert the electrode into the pocket that is wet. There are two electrodes, put them into each pocket and then you'll have your underarm treatment tools.

Keep in mind to make sure to keep the electrode as deep in the pocket as possible. You want the pocket to completely cover the electrode. You don't want it kind of out like that, because if the actual electrode touches your skin, it will probably cause a reaction, so you don't want that. We want the electrode as deep into the pocket as possible.

They've made these pockets a lot longer than the actual electrode so that there's no chance of you touching yourself with the electrode. So deep into the pockets, and then if these pockets do dry throughout the treatment, for whatever reason, you can just remove it, re-soak them with tap water, and then use them again.

So once your treatment pads are plugged into your machine and your machine is plugged into the wall, you put the treatment pads under your underarms, just like this, and you can do it on both sides together. Again, making sure that the electrodes are nice and in there, because I can totally see myself accidentally pulling them a bit during the treatment. So hiding the electrodes in the pockets and pressing the on button for three seconds to activate the device from there, you'll have the mode selection button to select that you are working on your underarms, and then you just want to adjust the current level to whatever set point so that the current level will slowly climb to that set point.

I would recommend starting on a lower level, just so you kind of get used to the feeling of how it feels. I found that if you like the longer you do your treatments, the more used to the feeling you will get and the less uncomfortable it will be, but I won't lie the first time I tried it, it wasn't painful but I was definitely a little surprised at how it feels. You can feel that there are electrical currents almost like crawling through your skin. So if you go to a high level right away, you might feel a bit of discomfort and I don't recommend it. I recommend slowly building up to a level that's comfortable for you.

Then, as you carry on with your treatments and you get more comfortable with it and your skin gets a little bit more comfortable with it, you can raise up the level, because it is true, the higher level of current you go, and the more often you do it, obviously, the more effective the results will be.

But I definitely don't recommend just forcing yourself to do a high level right away, because it's just not worth feeling that discomfort. Just start slow and work your way up to a higher current and get the results that you want.

Pockets are good for about 30 treatments each. They provide four pockets, which means you can do about 60 treatments. Then what you do afterwards, you pull these out and the pockets you can wash with dish soap and warm water, just get them nice and clean, and then just set them to dry for your next treatment.

So the process itself really isn't complicated, it’s a matter of building up the habit to do this consistently.

If you do suffer from excessive sweating, um, let me know how it's affected your life. Let's just really break the taboo around the topic and just be able to openly talk about this because it really isn't such a big deal, like it's just sweating. I promise you, your life will get so much better as you get older and it's not going to affect you so much anymore. I wish I could go back and tell my high school self that, you just have to take some precautions and there will be better days for you.
