What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating that affects over 5% of the global population—that’s 365 million people worldwide! It can affect anyone regardless of factors such as sex, ethnicity, or age. It is commonly diagnosed between the stages of childhood and young adulthood.

Those with hyperhidrosis can sweat anytime, anywhere, in any temperature, and up to 4-5x more than the average person or what is needed for body temperature regulation, and without any ‘triggers’. It is believed to be caused by an overactive sympathetic nervous system and has a genetic

What is iontophoresis?

Iontophoresis is a non-invasive, drug-free, and needle-free way to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Iontophoresis treatment is done with a medical device, referred to as a tap water iontophoresis machine. It can be done in a clinical setting under medical supervision, but it is more commonly done at home with a compact and user-friendly home-use device, such as Dermadry

Iontophoresis technology works by directing a mild electrical current through the skin, effectively neutralizing the connection between the nerves and sweat glands. In nearly all cases, this leads to a drastic reduction in sweating on the treated zone.

Dermadry’s iontophoresis device can treat mild to severe cases of palmar, plantar, and axillary hyperhidrosis, more commonly known as excessive sweating of the hands, feet, and underarms, respectively. These are the zones most commonly affected by primary hyperhidrosis.
