One of the first-ever Dermadry users, who started using our machine in the Fall of 2018 is back with a 2 year update!
Natalie suffers from hyperhidrosis of the hands and feet. In the fall of 2018, we reached out to her to document her journey and experience using Dermadry. She was one of the first Dermadry users ever, and now she is back with a 2-year update video just in time for our 2 year anniversary celebrations!
In her first video published in November 2018, Natalie talks about Dermadry, and does an unboxing and demo of all three zones! You can watch the video to get her first-hand experience with Dermadry and to see our anti-sweat device in action!
You can read a transcription of Natalie’s video here!
In her 2-year update, Natalie walks us through her initial treatment phase and what her maintenance phase treatments look like now, 2 years on! As a fellow Montreal native, Natalie also got the opportunity to meet one of the founders of Dermadry and has learned a lot about hyperhidrosis and iontophoresis over the past 2 years. Watch the video below and read the transcription to learn more about her experience and what she believes to be the highlights in her journey to dryness. Read Natalie Loves Beauty’s blog here.
It's been nearly two years since I started using Dermadry, a brand that makes iontophoresis devices. It's used to treat hyperhidrosis, which is a condition I've been living with for many years. Basically, it's a medical term for excessive sweating.
I remember being quite skeptical when I was first introduced to Dermadry. But after doing a bit of digging around and research, I decided that I was ready and that I would also document my journey using it as well.
What really appealed to me is that a lot of time and effort went into developing this product, and what really sealed the deal for me is that it has a medical device license from Health Canada. Not only that, but the company is actually located in my city here in Montreal, and I even got to briefly meet one of the founders of the company. It's always nice to put a face to the name, and that also really showed me that there are good people behind this brand.
Not too long ago, I even came across an article, which explained how Dermadry even came to fruition. So, it's basically three men and one of them suffered from hyperhidrosis. And they each had their own careers, but they decided to put their minds together and get into this new business venture. And, from that, came this amazing product that I'm so excited is now a part of my life.
I first documented my experience using Dermadry in a YouTube video and on my blog. So I would highly recommend you check those out, if you haven't already. I definitely felt vulnerable sharing this condition and sharing my experience back then, but in hindsight, I'm so happy that I did, because to this day I still receive a lot of direct messages and comments under my video from you guys, from my viewers, seeing how much this device has helped you. And that honestly makes me so happy to know that my video has helped others. That is like my mission accomplished when it comes to my videos if I can help someone and let someone know that they're not alone, that we're going through similar struggles. That seriously makes my day.
Dermadry is an iontophoresis device, as I mentioned, and it's FDA cleared, it's licensed by Health Canada, and also by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration. Basically, what an iontophoresis device does is that it sends a mild current through your skin and it neutralizes the connection between your sweat glands and your nerves. Through multiple studies, it's been shown to be a very effective treatment for hyperhidrosis. The Dermadry website is such a wealth of information when it comes to this condition—I actually learned so much just from reading and browsing through the website. So, if you want to learn more about studies that have been conducted and just want to dive deeper into this topic, I would highly recommend you check the website out. Dermadry conducted a survey, and they found that 98.3% of respondents found success in using the device, and what's great is that you basically get to experience up to six weeks of dryness.
Honestly, that's such a blessing if you've been dealing with hyperhidrosis because it's usually a daily struggle. So knowing that you can go that long without dealing with those symptoms is amazing. Also, this device is dermatologist recommended, which, again, is reassuring for me personally. If you have questions regarding how the device operates, I did do a full demo walking you through step by step on how to use this device, so make sure to check that out if you have any questions or concerns regarding that aspect. Dermadry offers three devices. They have the Dermadry Total, which is what I have, it treats underarms, hands, and feet. They have one just for the underarms and then they have one just for hands and feet.
But, since I deal with excessive sweating in my underarms and in my hands, the Total just made the most sense for me. I initially used the device three to five times a week. And I did that for six weeks. The first week I did it three times just to get my body accustomed to it and just feel like if I had any adverse reactions or side effects, but everything was fine. So for the following five weeks, I did the treatment five times a week.
I was really surprised at how painless of a process it is. I only experienced slight discomfort on my hands and it was just a mild tingling sensation, but that was only while using the device. I would say I felt it more in the first two weeks, but after that, I didn’t really experience that anymore. I would say I started seeing a decrease in my sweat productivity after the two week mark, which was so exciting to me because literally the results came white quickly, which I kind of wasn't expecting. I was thinking it would take at least like six weeks to even notice the difference.
The fact that I noticed results so early on was really amazing. So, after six weeks I basically gave it a pause and I waited six weeks for the following treatment. And basically ever since then, I've been doing a maintenance treatment every six weeks. I want to stress that this isn't a cure for hyperhidrosis, you have to be on a regular schedule and be using the device and maintaining treatments so that you keep reaping the benefits.
I started using the device in the fall two years ago, but for me, the real test was seeing how I would survive the hot and humid months because it gets so crazy hot here in Montreal and my excessive sweating tends to go kind of like through the roof in the warmer months. Well, it's been two summers since I first started using the device and I'm happy to report that I've been able to keep my hyperhidrosis under control through the muggy sticky weather with continual use.
I wanted to mention some of the benefits of using the device because there are many. Firstly, this device is very cost effective, it is definitely an investment. I keep saying that, but in the long run, you will be saving money because you're not spending thousands of dollars at the clinic. Dermadry now lets you pay in interest free monthly installments, which is really great, and they offer international shipping. So if you go to their website, there are a ton of different currencies you can pay in. And their product is also available on Amazon too right now, which is really great. The device is also super easy to use. I mean, like very easy, you basically just press a button and just put the electrodes on your body and it does all the work for you.
You can basically just relax, let time pass by, and it's a very pleasant experience. It's very safe to use and you don't experience any severe pain. What's great is that the results are long lasting. Another benefit is that you can basically manage your condition from the comfort of your own home, which in these times we can all certainly appreciate.
I also find that I just generally feel less self conscious and I feel more confident. Um, I'm able to wear clothes that I like, and I don't have to worry about like sweat marks or anything like that. As I mentioned, you can experience some temporary side effects, such as a bit of skin redness or burning or tingling, but that is just temporary, these are not long term side effects, so they are definitely manageable if you do end up experiencing them. And the last thing is that you might experience a bit more sweating before you start seeing a decrease, but that is normal as well.
If you are considering purchasing a device from Dermadry, I have a discount. [Watch Natalie’s video for the discount code!]
I invite you to check out my previous content because I think it will be very helpful and it basically covers anything I might've missed in this video. Overall I'm super pleased that I was introduced to this product because it has seriously been a godsend.
I hope this device helps you as much as it has helped me if you decide to give it a try.
