How To Stop Sweaty Hands While Gaming

How do I deal with sweaty hands when gaming?

Having constantly sweaty hands while gaming can really get in the way of performing at your best and really detract from the experience. Gaming comes with a lot of excitement and intensity. This can cause your palms to sweat and make it hard for you to get a good grip on the controller. Constantly wiping your hands, leaving sweat marks on your controllers and keyboard, and controllers slipping out of your hands are just some of the things you may experience.

If you’re an avid gamer, you’ve likely dealt with sweaty hands while gaming at some point, or maybe even continuously. Excessively sweaty hands is actually a medical condition called palmar hyperhidrosis. While it’s not a dangerous condition, it is an annoying one.

When it comes to gaming, this could lead to moistness and even puddles of sweat on your keyboard and controllers. Many Twitch streamers and YouTubers have experienced this issue live on stream, and you’ll notice that many swear by using gamer gloves, antiperspirants, and more to manage the sweat.

If you’re struggling with sweaty hands while gaming, here are some tips to manage the sweat.

How to stop your hands from sweating while gaming

  • - Wash Your Hands

Washing or cleaning your hands before you start playing can help reduce sweating and get rid of any creams or residues you may have on your hands that may make sweating worse and transfer on your controller or keyboard. If your hands are feeling particularly warm or you’re feeling anxious, run cold water on your hands and inner wrists

  • - Wear Gamer Gloves

Wearing a pair of absorbent gloves, even a pair specifically designed for gaming, can help control your sweat, prevent sweat from dripping onto your controllers and give you a better grip.

  • - Use An Antiperspirant Cream:

Using a specially-formulated antiperspirant for hands can help you keep your hands feeling dry and matte. Some antiperspirant hand creams contain a form of aluminum, which is the active ingredient in antiperspirants that will minimize sweating. Some anti-sweat hand creams will be mattifying lotions that do not contain aluminum, so won’t reduce sweating but will help your hands feel dry and counteract moistness, so your hands will feel smoother and less slippery. One downside of these is that they may leave a bit of chalky residue behind, so be sure to apply it according to the directions.

  • - Get A Silicone Cover

Using anti-slip silicone grips or covers on your controller can improve control and grip and stop your hands from feeling slippery. They can also prevent you from ruining your controls and keyboards due to moisture. Invest in a silicone controller grip or a silicone keyboard cover to protect your devices, and improve your comfort and

  • - Get a USB or Desk Fan

If you find yourself sweating as a result of being too warm, then a fan can help keep you cool and dry, while helping the air in your room circulate. Gaming PCs can cause a room to heat up quite fast, even with proper ventilation. If you have a window, be sure to open that, but get a USB-powered fan you can plug into your computer or a desk or floor fan (depending on how much space you have). This will help maintain your body temperature and help you sweat less.

  • - Try Iontophoresis Treatment

If you have tried antiperspirant lotions and creams, silicone covers and grips for your controllers and keyboards, and even gamer gloves and you are still struggling with sweaty hands, it’s time to try something that will give you long-lasting dryness. Iontophoresis treatment is done at-home using a portable medical device, such as Dermadry. Treatments for the hands are 20 minutes and can be done whenever, and wherever you like.
